Audio Cassette Cases

Creativity Challenge 1

Generate a list of a dozen potential uses for empty audio cassette cases (either the hard or soft plastic ones).

What else might audio cassette plastic cases be used for other than for holding and/or storing audio cassettes?

  • rubber band cases
  • shelf supports
  • jello molds
  • display supports
  • business card holders/cases
  • cigarette cases
  • recycable clear plastic
  • office door signs
  • crayons boxes
  • poker deck box
  • wall hung key holder
  • small photo frame

What do think they could be used for?

Taped together, they make wonderful lightweight bookends.

In the same way, they can be used as lightweight bricks for play houses.

I haven't tried then yet as insulated windows, but the idea sounds interesting.

How about as pill dispensers? Maybe keep a month's supply in each cassette if the pills are small enough. Come to think of it, TicTac might have already come up with that idea.

Has anyone tried them as mail carrier pouches in vacuum tubes?

How about as salt and pepper shakers?

How about as light panels in place of light bulbs? Perhaps you could interchange different color cassettes to create different moods.

How about filling them with different aromatic materials, and as they are played you could activate the sense of smell as well as sound?
