Creativity Challenge 45
Number 45 only 7 more to complete an entire year of Creativity
Challenges.
This week's was sparked by Jack Foster's book HOW TO GET IDEAS.
I opened it up randomly and read for about 90 seconds on pages 86
and 87 about. THERE ARE NO BAD IDEAS.
He gives several examples of creativity that resulted from "bad
ideas"
Madame Curie had a "bad" idea that turned out to be radium.
Richard Drew had a "bad" idea that turned out to be Scotch Tape.
Joseph Priestly invented carbonated water while he was
investigatingthe chemistry of the air.
roulette, vulcanized rubber, antiknock gasoline, electric current,
x-rays are other examples.
Jack Foster reminds us of how creativity can come from MISTAKES or
NON-SUCCESSES.
I have discoverd through reading and living creativity for many
years that there are at least 25 sources of creative ideas other
than creative thinking and hard work or inspiration. They are...
- mistakes
- accidents
- surprises
- law suits
- too early
- too late
- wrong culture
- fear
- rediscovery
- new uses
- failures
- catastrophies
- life threatening experiences
- life saving experiences
- fun
- fantasy
- lark
- bluff
- second hand
- dare
- fraud
- hoax
- war
- sacrifice
- dream
Your Creativity Challenge this week is to share samples of 6 to 12
different examples of these you know or can find this week.
I will summarize and make them available next week.
Have a great and creative week. Deliberately or accidentally!
