Dumb or Dumber into Good or Gooder

Creativity Challenge 1998 #27

Most of the time when we strive to be creative we aim at coming up with breakthrough ideas that work the first time.

Highly creative people often are the people who take the ideas that others laugh at, criticize or condemn and find the good in them or grow them into good or gooder ideas.

The challenge this week is to collect a minimum of one dozen "dumb", "crazy", "work won't", "totally useless" ideas you can find or dream up yourself and then list 6 to 12 reasons of how you might make them work or come closer to working.

  • Substitute some aspect,
  • combine the idea with something else,
  • adapt some detail or factor,
  • modify a part,
  • put the idea to other uses,
  • eliminate or erase a non-working factor or reverse your thinking and turn those "dumb", "useless", "impractical", "crazy" ideas into possible or potentially creative ones.

Have fun.

Alan
