Setting Yourself Free From Old Patterns

Creativity Challenge 1998 #35

SETTING YOURSELF FREE FROM THE OLD OR SET BEHAVIOR PATTERNS

STEP ONE:
Create a brief one sentence for your challenge/task/problem/goal.
STEP TWO:
On a fresh sheet of paper write down what you WISH you could do to address this challenge/task/problem/goal if there were NO rules or regulations/laws or limitations of any kind or type.
Generate 6 to 12 of these. Let your wishes range from very fanciful or speculative to very feasible. The more fanciful ones will probably be the most creative/innovative ones.
STEP THREE:
Select a fanciful idea you wrote down that appeals to you a great deal (for any reason) and develop it a bit, make it more specific.
Keep the innovation in the idea, yet don't drop it from speculative/fanciful/playful to practical in one step.
STEP FOUR:
Now take the still seemingly speculative/fanciful/playful idea and write down how it might be accomplished.
OR

Imagine that the speculative/fanciful/playful, even off-the-wall/far-out/strange idea was accomplished, you won, you got what you wanted. Now work backwards and write down how it might have been accomplished. If a practical detail causes a hang-up leave that blank and continue backing up. That may be a spot for a breakthrough yet discovered or realized.

The first approach is called simply DEDUCTIVE thinking, you are deducing to a result.

The second approach is called simply INDUCTIVE/REDUCTIVE/PROJECTIVE thinking, you are inducing, reducing, projecting to a potential/probable result.

Thank you goes out to... Peg Kelley--Facilitation Plus for this Creativity Challenge Process. Thank you very much Pegg.
