Change Your CultureCreativity Challenge 1998 #41I just returned from 2 weeks in South Africa, attending and presenting at the 4th Annual International African Creativity Conference in Pretoria, South Africa and traveling some in South Africa, especially with ending my trip in Cape Town. It was a fantastic experience in many, many, many ways: new people, new friends, new sites, new experiences, new things and ways of doing things, paradigm challenges. The experience sparked this week's CC. Experience a new culture for some time each day. Spend time somewhere you normally would never go. Spend time with people you would never associate with. Do this literally and/or figuratively through going there or movies, tapes, music, magazines. Deliberately soak up everything you can without any bias. See, taste, smell, hear, touch everything as new. Eat food that is culturally different each day. Then examine all that you experienced for what was/is creative in every aspect you can. A new culture might be a new country, state, city, town, neighborhood, a new department in your organization. The focus is on new, something you previous have had no firsthand knowledge of or with. Have a great time doing this Creativity Challenge! Prev Page Next Page Index Page© 1997, 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2005, 2006 Robert Alan Black, Ph.D. CSP | |
