Using Your 5 Senses

Creativity Challenge 1999 #7

I just got back from Fredonia, New York, about an hour's drive from Buffalo. The weather went from 70 degrees on Thursday to the 20's and 8 to 10 inches of snow. What a great place to spend 4 days. I now say that that I am back where the sun is shining with the daffodils and crocus blooming.

Your challenge this week is to have fun with your senses this week. Each day choose a separate and difference sense and enjoy it for 15 to 30 minutes 2 or 3 times during the day. For example,

  • On Monday take a magnifying glass and walk around the natural area around where you live or work (thank you CPSI friend Donna Luther). Simply enjoy the perceiving.
  • On Tuesday go have breakfast, lunch and dinner in food court areas so you can taste bits of multiple types of foods.
  • On Wednesday collect a box of scents, odors, smells.
  • On Thursday assemble a collection of varied textures.
  • On Friday go to a mall or large building lobby and sit with your eyes closed focusing only on the sounds: close up, a short distance away, off in the distance.

Enjoy your senses this week one by one.

Have a creative week. It is always your choice.
