Ambiguity is a Blessing
Cre8ng Challenge
2000 - 26
One trait of highly creative people that has been written about by many
psychologists and creative thinking authors is their tendency to be
TOLERANT OF AMBIGUITY.
Let's practice being Tolerant of Ambiguity as this week's Cre8ng
Challenge.
In order to do that let's look at Noah Webster's life's work first. . .
- tolerate v.t.
- to allow without hindrance
- to endure without repugnance
- to resist the action of
If something is tolerable, it is. . .
- fairly good
- bearable
- endurable
- passable
If we have tolerance, we. . .
- have a liberal spirit toward opinions and practices that differ from our own
- exercise the power to endure or resist discomfort, hardship
Personally I dislike the concept of tolerance. I prefer terms such as...
- support
- enjoy
- celebrate
- grow from
- become enriched by
- AMBIGUITY or AMBIGUOUS
- having several POSSIBLE meanings
So this week increase and deepen your creative thinking skills through
ambiguities around you or those you can find each day.
- Monday make a list of 6 to 12 ambiguities you have ever dealt with take 15 minutes to SUPPORT the multiple possible ways of doing each
- Tuesday make a list of 6 to 12 new ambiguities in your life now take 15 minutes to ENJOY the multiple possible ways of doing each
- Wednesday look for a list of 6 to 12 new ambiguities in your work/school take 15 minutes to CELEBRATE the multiple possible ways of doing each
- Thursday look for a list of 6 to 12 new ambiguities on television take 15 minutes to think about how you could GROW FROM the multiple possible ways of doing each
- Friday make up a list of 6 to 12 new ambiguities about anything take 15 minutes to think about how you could BECOME ENRICHED BY the multiple possible ways of doing each
Have a richly creative week. It is your choice.
