Many Ways from Oshkosh to AlbuquerqueCreativity Challenge 2001 #16If you have read and down many of these Challenges you know that my
philosophy behind creativity and creative thinking is that it is
always our choice to be creative. We can accept that there is "no
way" to get where we are going or to solve our problem, or we can
decide to look for... Recently while at the American Creativity Association 2001 Conference in St. Paul one of the speakers was Charlie Girsch, a toy inventor and creativity consultant. I bought a copy of his book, Inventivity, after his presentation. It is filled with many idea and creativity sparkers. This week's CHALLENGE was inspired by one of his processes. A.C.E. of Creativity is one of his tools. It is a basic form of
"checklisting". In it's place let's substitute C.R.E.A.T.E. We will use it this week to jump out of our boxes and step back in refresh with new ideas and potential ideas to generate new solutions inside our boxes. MONDAY
Choose items within one of your challenges or from any challenge of
your choice and make a list of 12 separate previously not thought of
COMBINATIONS of ideas, details, actions. TUESDAY
Choose items within one of your challenges or from any challenge of
your choice and make a list of 12 separate previously not thought of
REVERSALS of ideas, details, actions or systems. Deliberately of
ways to totally reverse 12 things related to your challenge. WEDNESDAY
Choose items within one of your challenges or from any challenge of
your choice and make a list of 12 separate previously not thought of
EXAGGERATIONS of ideas, details, actions. Be as absurd as possible
in your EXAGGERATIONS. THURSDAY
Choose items within one of your challenges or from any challenge of
your choice and make a list of 12 separate previously not thought of
ADAPTATIONS/ALTERATIONS of ideas, details, actions. FRIDAY TAKE your IDEAS back inside your "boxes" and TOTAL them up and EXAMINE them for possible use to solve your problem(s). C.R.E.A.T.E. This should provide you with opportunities to DIVERGE and CONVERGE. Also during the week visit Maria & Charlie Girsch's website www.creativitycentral.com Have a highly creative week.
