Re-Process, Re-Procedure, Re-Practice to Create

Creativity Challenge 2001 #47

Hello folks. I am back from Houston and northern Arizona. Before I left I sent you CC 2001-46 asking you to generate daily lists of Processes, Procedures and Practices. Through this CC the goal is to apply your lists to help you generate new ideas and new approaches to old ideas.

You may do this exercise one of a couple ways.

  1. preselect 5 objects, products
  2. randomly choose 5 objects, products, one per day
  3. randomly choose 1 object each day as you begin your CC time

Then...
put the object or product in full view and begin by listing every process that was probably or could have been used to make it.

Second....
imagine what would happen if you used other processes to produce the object or product.

Third....
think about and write down how the object or product might be changed, altered, modified, improved, dramatically advance by simply changing one, some or all the processes involved in the manufacturing of it.

i.e.:

  • If a car was completely manufactured by hand?
  • If a car was completely manufactured using ceramic art processes?
  • If a car was completely manufactured using sand casting and plaster mold techniques?

Have fun reprocessing, reproceduring and repracticing this week.

Alan
