Using the Problem to Solve ItselfCreativity Challenge 2002 #10I just read an example of how a problem is being used to solve itself. Breed and die: An Australian biotechnologist recently won an award in New Zealand for a plan to eradicate blowflies. He breeds millions of them in farms and irradiates them to make them sterile. They are then released in fly infested areas where they mate with the "natural" blowflies but they don't produce any offspring. This has the effect of dramatically reducing the number of blowflies in the area. This week choose one problem each day and look into your fantasy and future focusing taliedoscope (the principal device behind a kaliedoscope without the miscellaneous pieces in it...just the mirrors) and generate 12 ideas for how perhaps a problem could be used to solve itself.Monday - Choose a social problem Tuesday - Choose an educational problem Wednesday - Choose a household problem Thursday - Choose a problem in sports Friday - Choose a financial problem Share some of the ideas you generate. Perhaps once they come in we can generate an additional gross (144) ideas for you. Have a creative week! You deserve it and it is always your choice. Alan
