Box, Out of, No Box, New Box ThinkingCreativity Challenge 2002 #46The past few weeks the cliché, "OUT OF THE BOX", so often connected to creativity and innovation, has been used over and over and over again on television shows, news reports and interviews, articles, movies and radio shows and in many conversations I have overheard including a dinner meeting involving myself, a partner and one of our client contact people. This week let's take advantage of the metaphor, the cliché of a box to spark some creative thinking. According to my copy of the American Heritage Dictionary, box a rectangular container, often with a lid. A separated compartment for a small group (theater), a booth, an awkward situation, to place in or as if in a box. Generally people refer to "out of the box" thinking as thinking that is not normal, typical, generally accepted, not conventional wisdom. Let's play with the "box" concept this week. MONDAY TUESDAY WEDNESDAY THURSDAY FRIDAY Next week we'll focus on New Boxes, No Boxes, Imaginary Boxes Have a great and creative week.
