Alan's Creativity Challenges 2003-34
If I Could Redesign AnythingOne practice exercise I have found that many highly creative people I meet use is the challenge for this week. During quiet times or breaktimes often highly creative people use their imaginations like they did as children when they would gaze off or look out their classroom windows redesigning the world around them. MONDAY Choose a machine that you commonly use and spend time redesigning it as if you had access to totally new materials of methods of manufacture. What would it look like? How would it be different? What could it do that current machines can not? TUESDAY Choose an animal and redesign it. Would you make it larger? smaller? faster? more colorful? Would you give it other abilities? WEDNESDAY Create the perfect classroom. What would be in it? Would it have lots of color? Would it be mobile? Could it fly? THURSDAY Create a new form of transportation. Could it fly? travel at the speed of light or faster? Would it carry only you or many people? FRIDAY Redesign laws or rules you do not like. How would they be different? How would you benefit from them? Would anyone be hurt by them? Have fun during quiet or breaktimes or your designated creative thinking development time redesigning this week.
