Alan's Creativity Challenges 2003-49
LOOK UNTIL YOU TRULY SEEI returned from a great week playing in Chicago and spending time with a variety of friends, going to Second City and seeing the most recent review of a new show, Steppenwolf-contemporary theater founded by Gary Sinese, John Malkovich and other actors 25+ years ago, Museum of Contemporary Art to see the current exhibit and general exhibits, a avant garde play titled: 'DOWNSIZING' that was performed in a men's room in the MCA with the audience (20 or so of us) standing around the walls of the bathroom while the actors did the play, eating at a Mexican, Spanish, Afghanistan, and a popular Chicago restaurant Bistro 110. This morning while having my breakfast I was looking out the sliding glass doors to my deck and small forest of a backyard and the theme of this week's Creativity Challenge came to mind. We need to take time to observe in order to truly see. So this week take time each day to simply observe a variety of types of things or experiences and discover what you can see. Please share some examples of your "true sights". MONDAY...find a place to sit and observe nature: trees, plants, water, birds, etc. TUESDAY...find a place to sit and observe people in a shopping area. WEDNESDAY...find a place outside and observe people on the street in their cars, walking, riding busses, etc. THURSDAY...sit in your living room and observe what happens over the next 30 minutes. FRIDAY...sit quietly and observe what goes on in your workplace or school. Have a great and frutiful time OBSERVING this week.
