2011 US work

In 1976 when I started giving talks, keynote speeches, workshops, training programs and teaching university or college courses it was all in the US.

In 1979 I was an unofficial co-assistant facilitator with two friends: Ruth Noller and Bob Johnston from CPSI when we were the only US Americans attending a creativity conference in Trinidad.  Another way to say that is that I kept raising my hand while Ruth and Bob were leading their workshop.

In 1982 I taught outside the US for the first time when I was part of the Univ of Georgia’s Cortona (Italy) Travel Abroad Program.

In the mid-80s I taught a few workshops in Canada.

In 1979 I began doing workshops and concurrent sessions through the Institute of Government, the Georgia Continuing Education Center and the Terry School of Business mostly at the Contg Ed Ctr in Athens.

In 1981 I began doing weekend retreats and workshops through the newly formed J W Fanning Leadership Institute throughout the state for towns, cities, county leadership groups generally sponsored by the local Chambers of Commerce.

In 1984 I joined the adjunct faculty of the UGA Institute for Business and began doing workshops and training programs for companies around the state of Georgia and occaisionally in other states.

In 1985 I joined the adjunct faculty of the UGA Institute of Government and began doing training programs and concurrent sessions throughout the state.

In 1984 I left my teaching positions with both the Art Department (full-time) and the School of Environmental Design (adjunct) and became full-time independent consultant and speaker.

In 1985 I also became a consultant with Management Campus, Inc., based in Atlanta and did variety of training programs and occasional keynote addresses for a mix of Fortune 500 companies and the American Management Association

Then in 1990 thanks to a speaker colleague from the Georgia Speakers Assocaition I traveled to the Netherlands to do some workshops for Regio Baak, a private training company located in Noordvjik on the sea.

1990 to 1998 the greatest majority of my work was throughout the US, working in over 40 states eventually.

In 1995 after teaching a week-long Leadership Development, Executive Development course through the Georgia Public Saftey Training Center (GPSTC) in Forsyth, Georgia I was hired by both the Georgia Chiefs Association and Columbus State University to teach a masters degree level course focused on Leading and Teamwork in Today’s Workplaces for public safety officers (police, fire, emt, etc.)  I taught that 1 to 3 to 5 times a year for a total of 54 times from 1995 to 2010.

In 1998 I began speaking at conferences internationally beginning with South Africa, then Turkey, Canada, Mexico.

In 2001 I took my first complete trip around the globe (18 countries) and ended up speaking or doing workshops in several of them.

Since then I have been primarily doing workshops, speeches and consulting work internationally.

In 2011 I was hired to teach a Leadership and Teamwork course for only Firefighter Officers.

In 2012 my plan is to return to consulting, teaching/training and speaking again in the US.
